Cape Town, February 2015 – Creating “tribes” of implementers across the globe to build quality systems and deliver useful data : that was the theme that resonated at this year’s OpenMRS Mozambique 2015 Implementers Meetings. Various health care professionals and OpenMRS implementers from across the globe gathered in Maputo, at the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, from the 27th January – 1st February for the highly anticipated meeting. The OpenMRS community has been organizing regional and global meetings, summits, and leadership camps for over 10 years with the aim to work towards building the world’s leading open source enterprise electronic medical record system platform.

“I had a great time at the 2015 OpenMRS Implementers meeting interacting with implementers and developers from all over the world. I had the opportunity to have many productive discussions with people about my specific interest, which is the development and management of regional OpenMRS communities” says Pascal Brandt (Jembi lead Developer).
The Jembi-MOASIS team was well represented at the meeting with a team of developers, implementers, health information systems specialists, and project managers who presented at some of the sessions during the 6 day unconference-styled meeting, which included a 2-day-hackathon and site visits within the local communities in Maputo and health facilities where OpenMRS is being implemented through SIBI (Individual Based System) to monitor patients with chronic diseases.
The meeting organisers reiterated the main theme for the OpenMRS Maputo 2015 conference was: Building Quality Systems, Delivering Useful Data and were excited to collaborate closely together with the DHIS and OpenHIE communities to focus on doing just that.
