Jembi-MOASIS presents at public health informatics conference in Atlanta, USA!

Prof Chris Seebregts (Jembi CEO) and Dr Alessandro Campione (Jembi Mozambique Programme Director) presented Jembi-MOASIS: a sustainable multi-national PPP for National HMIS development in Mozambique

Cape Town, South Africa – 19 May 2014 – Jembi Health Systems’ Chief Executive Officer (Prof Chris Seebregts) and Mozambique Programme Director (Dr Alessandro Campione) recently traveled to Atlanta, USA to deliver a presentation at the Public Health Informatics Conference. The presentation was entitled “The Jembi-MOASIS model: a sustainable multi-national PPP for National HMIS development in Mozambique” and dealt with strategies to strengthen public health informatics workforce in low resource settings.

Since 2003, the Public Health Informatics Conference (formerly known as the PHIN Conference) has been an important event where governmental public health providers, researchers, vendors, and domestic/international public health and healthcare organizations address public health informatics, health information technology infrastructure and workforce capacity needs.

Organized by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with a global health informatics track, the conference is an important forum providing leadership and guidance for public health organizations navigating through an era of interoperable and integrated health information exchange. Prof Seebregts and Dr Campione extended their trip to visit Ottawa in Canada where they met with another key Jembi partner and funder, the IDRC (International Development Research Centre). Together, IDRC and Jembi met with representatives from the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) to update them about work done and future developments in Mozambique, particularly in the area of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics.
