Jembi-MOASIS participated in a special technical consultation workshop in Glion-sur-Montreux, Switzerland
Cape Town, June 2014 – Drs. Alessandro Campione (Jembi Mozambique Programme Director) and Roberta Pastore (Jembi Senior HIS Specialist) participated in a special joint technical workshop convened by the World Health Organisation (WHO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the University of Oslo with support from the International Health Partnership+, Global Fund, UNICEF on 11-12 June in Glion-sur-Montreux, Switzerland.
The aim of this workshop was to share and discuss progress, gaps and best practices regarding strengthening the availability, quality, analysis and use of health facility data and statistics through innovative approaches. Participants include country and regional experts and representatives of international organizations, agencies and other development partners working in the area of facility based information systems.
Jembi-MOASIS has done sterling work with regards to innovation in data collection and management in Mozambique. Its respective work has not gone unnoticed and is considered as a flagship and best practice in many aspects, hence Dr Roberta Pastore accepting the invitation to present the “Mozambique: Hospital reporting of cause of death case study” and participate in the working groups to share Jembi/MOASIS experience in supporting HMIS in low resource settings..
The workshop is one of a series of technical consultations that are being organized with the aim of addressing essential data gaps in countries, within the broader context of strengthening measurement of results and accountability for health. Jembi-MOASIS is delighted and excited at the outcome of the workshop and the main deliverable being the willingness of all stakeholders present to contribute to a set of assessment tools and guidelines for strengthening health information system at facility level and draft a common global work plan and strategy to improve HIS support.
