Jembi and Terre Des Hommes Start Project of
Support for Pre-School Education in Mozambique – EducaMoz

Jembi Health Systems recently signed a Memorandum of understanding in Mozambique with Maputo-based Terre Des Hommes Italia, a leading international organization for children’s aid. The partnership with Terre Des Hommes and several other local institutions in the education and child protection sectors gives birth to the EducaMoz project which aims to support the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Affairs (MGCAS) secure inclusive quality pre-school education for pupils in Mozambique through the improvement of education programs and strengthening of the national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system.

Maputo, July 2018 – The EducaMoz project in partnership with Terre Des Hommes and local institutions focuses on education and child protection and provides Jembi with a unique opportunity to continue supporting evidence-based decision-making and interventions in the education sector through the strengthening of the national M&E system, SI-M&A of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Affairs. EducaMoz specifically aims to raise the quality of inclusive pre-school education services by improving the vocational training of child care operators and strengthening and expanding the innovative M&E information system developed by Jembi for government monitoring, particularly in the provinces of Maputo, Nampula and Sofala. The project will affect an estimated 41.300 children between the ages of 0-5, help improve the competencies of about 1.120 child care operators and boost the training capacity of 360 women who will be included in education programs as “caring mothers”. Jembi’s technical support will further improve the Ministry’s capacity to collect data and produce reliable data reports in coordination with education stakeholders. This noble initiative co-funded by Italian Agency for Development Cooperation will also help Mozambique address Sustainable Development Goals 4, 5 and 8 which respectively focus on quality education, gender equality, as well as employment and economic growth.
