As a follow-up to the first SIS-MA (National Monitoring & Evaluation System) implementation at the Maputo City level, the National Directorate of Planning & Cooperation at the Mozambique MOH, together with the Jembi-MOASIS team worked endlessly towards the last phase of the SIS-MA Project, which includes a comprehensive SIS-MA national implementation plan
Cape Town, South Africa – March 2015 – The SIS-MA project reached its 6th and final phase (implementation and training) at the end of 2014, and the system was introduced at 7 health facility sites during the month of December in the Maputo City. The implementation was an important field experience and was followed by a set of recommendations for future expansion of SIS-MA at a national level (more than 140 sites at Central, Provincial and Districts level).
In this vein, the Ministry of Health along with Jembi-MOASIS had a full day workshop to discuss and draft a comprehensive implementation plan to ensure that the system will be fully installed and functional in every province of Mozambique considering local conditions in the districts and provinces.
The focal points discussed and agreed upon at the planning meeting include matters related to: 1) management of SIS-MA information; 2) training; 3) development and technical maintenance; 4) implementation strategy. 5) Technology and infrastructure.
“The SIS-MA project was made possible thanks to a partnership between Mozambique and the American people through PEPFAR – CDC funding”.
