MoH receives donation of medical equipment through the MD Anderson-PEPFAR-Cardno partnership in collaboration with Jembi / UEM-mOASIS

A MD Anderson-PEPFAR-Cardno partnership in collaboration with Jembi / UEM-mOASIS through the support of the National Cancer Program, donated health equipment and materials to MISAU, which helps the clinical diagnosis of cervical diseases and support to the center Health training and research at the Central Hospital of Maputo.


Maputo, Mozambique – May 2021 – As part of the support to the MoH and to respond to the need for a health training and research center, MD Anderson, CARDNO and Jembi / UEM-mOASIS, took part in the delivery ceremony of materials and sanitary equipment, intended for the clinical diagnosis of cervical diseases, donated to the MoH.

The ceremony was held at the General Directorate of the Central Hospital of Maputo (HCM), in compliance with all the established standards of COVID-19 prevention measures, and was attended by the General Director of the HCM, Dr. Mouzinho Saide, Scientific Director and Pedagogical Dr. Cesaltina Lorenzoni, the Director of Nursing Dr. Matilde Mabui, Administrative Director Dr. Felicidade Munguambe, Mrs. Orquídea Langa, Head of the Communication and Image Department, Dr. Oliveira Pinoca, Head of the Supply Department, Representatives of Jembi , António Sitoi, Ivan Pinto, Carmen Macheve and Hélder Mazonda.

The donated materials include: 6 Laptops, 12 HP Dual Core Desktops, 3 Projectors, 8 Screens, 4 Speakers, 4 Cameras, 2 Laser Pointers, 6 Printers, 4 Wireless Modems, 6 CPR Dummies, 6 Specula, 4 LUCIA Kits, 500 Protection Masks, 100 Visors, 600 Gloves, 3 Colposcopy Atlas – Febrasgo Collection, 6 Whiteboards, 12 Movitel internet refills.

With this gesture, MD Anderson, CARDNO and Jembi / UEM-mOASIS hope to have contributed to increase the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of precancerous lesions and to decrease the number of cases that evolve to cervical cancer. Additionally, the Research Center will be engaged in the production and dissemination of knowledge and training of human resources, thus contributing to innovation and technical-scientific development in accordance with the ethical principles that guide the activity.
