Jembi-MOASIS IT Technicians take time to reflect!

Jembi-MOASIS held its first national meeting with its’ respective IT Technicians for provinces in Mozambique. The main purpose of the meeting held in Maputo was to reflect on past, present and future activities in Mozambique

Maputo, 29 July 2015 – Jembi-MOASIS has held its first official national meeting with all its’ IT technicians for the provinces in Maputo. During the meeting, the team reflected on the activities and tasks being performed in Mozambique.

The context of the meeting was guided by the review of Jembi-MOASIS program activities in support of its partners in Mozambique for the past two years. The meeting served to draw new strategies for the near future in the realm of Health Information Systems, monitoring and evaluation for the health sector and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Affairs.

During the meeting, experiences were shared by the professionals based in Maputo and the IT technicians from the Provinces. The contributions helped to understand the national situation as well as to identify challenges and opportunities. There were substantial discussions revolving around technical considerations such as the development of SIS-ROH 2.0 (Death Registration System – the second version).

There was an emphasis on the need to better use and improve management tools as well as monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the organization at the various levels. In addition, the group highlighted the importance to enhance planning and communication mechanisms within the organization as well as with partners. The participants underlined the need to boost training activities directed towards staff at the district level in the health units and other social units as well as technical support visits. The representatives from the provinces requested for the management to intensify its support in what regards dialogue with provincial and district-level authorities. By the same the management invited the technicians from the provinces to further collaborate and participate actively in the execution of various support projects that Jembi/MOASIS carries out throughout Mozambique.

All the technicians from the Maputo office and the provinces participated in the meeting, including IT technicians from Cabo Delgado, Zambézia, Tete, Gaza, Maputo Province and Maputo City. The meeting took place in an environment of openness as participants recognized the importance of the event and appealed for the regular occurrence of the event.
