Jembi-MOASIS invests in local IT Technicians!

With the support of Mozambique Ministry Of Health (MISAU), Jembi-MOASIS has been able to train local IT technicians who will be deployed in all 11 provinces – providing IT support to local health facilities

Cape Town, South Africa, May 2013MOASIS has recently completed a successful week-long training course (22nd-26th April 2013) for local IT Technicians within Mozambique.  The 16 technicians who attended the training course were from various parts of the 11 provinces in Mozambique, and will now be deployed back into their provinces to provide IT and HIS support to local health facilities within the province.

The MOASIS-led training course, supported by the Mozambique Ministry of Health (MISAU), took place in Maputo, at the Regional Centre for Health Development (CRDS). The initiative is part of the National Health Information System Support Program, and is aimed at up-skilling the local IT technicians in health information systems and providing them with the hardware and software necessary to provide efficient IT and HIS support to the health sector within the provinces.

The training was opened by the Head of the Department of Health Information Systems – Ministry of Health – Dr Cidália Balói, who welcomed the initiative and urged all participants to engage not only in the assimilation of knowledge and skills to be transmitted but especially the role they will play in improving the quality of data and the information produced at different levels of the National Health Service (NHS).

The general objective of the training was to provide the technicians in attendance with full certified training, so that they will be able and well equipped to provide IT and HIS support and maintenance to local health facilities within Mozambique.
